HealthLens Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 12, 2026
HealthLens (the “App”) respects your privacy, particularly the privacy of health information. This Privacy Policy explains how the App accesses, uses, stores, and protects information.
In this Policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to [Insert Developer or Company Legal Name].
1. HealthKit Data Access
With your explicit permission, the App requests read-only access through Apple HealthKit to the following data:
- Heart rate variability (HRV/SDNN);
- Cardio fitness (VO₂ max);
- Resting heart rate;
- Cardio recovery;
- Walking heart rate average;
- Respiratory rate;
- Blood oxygen;
- Sleeping wrist temperature;
- Walking steadiness;
- Running power;
- Step count;
- Active energy;
- Exercise time;
- Walking and running distance;
- Sleep analysis;
- Weight;
- Body mass index (BMI);
- Body fat percentage;
- Water intake;
- Heart rate samples used to assess data availability;
- Workout records and related information, such as workout type, time, duration, source, indoor/outdoor metadata, and the number of associated heart rate samples; and
- Health sample timestamps, source names, and device names, when available.
You control which HealthKit data types the App may read. The App does not request write access and does not add, modify, or delete information in Apple Health.
HealthKit does not tell an app whether read access to each data type was denied. As a result, when information is unavailable, the App may be unable to distinguish between no data, denied access, and data that Apple Health has not generated.
2. How Data Is Processed and Used
Authorized health information is processed temporarily on your device only when needed to provide App features, including to:
- Display recent readings, status, and trends;
- Display source and device information;
- Identify information that is missing or has not been updated recently;
- Review workout and heart-rate recording conditions; and
- Provide possible explanations and suggestions when information is unavailable.
The App does not copy HealthKit information into its own persistent database and does not upload or transmit it to a developer-operated server. We do not use health information for advertising, marketing, cross-app or cross-website tracking, profiling, data sales, insurance, credit, or employment decisions, or to train artificial intelligence models.
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The App uses SwiftData and UserDefaults to store limited non-health information locally on your device, which may include:
- Whether onboarding has been completed;
- Your selected trend range;
- A lightweight field relating to Pro entitlement state;
- Your selected App language;
- Whether a HealthKit authorization request has previously been shown; and
- Debug-only state in development builds.
These local settings do not contain HealthKit readings or workout records and are not uploaded by the App to developer-operated or third-party servers. The App does not implement developer-operated cloud synchronization for health information or App settings.
4. Accounts, Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking
The App:
- Does not require a user account;
- Does not include advertising SDKs;
- Does not include third-party analytics SDKs;
- Does not track you across apps or websites; and
- Does not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health information.
Depending on your device settings and Apple’s policies, Apple may independently process App Store purchase information and optional diagnostic or usage information. The App does not send HealthKit information to Apple for advertising or analytics.
5. Disclosure and Third-Party Services
We do not share HealthKit information with advertisers, data brokers, analytics services, or other third parties.
The App uses Apple-provided HealthKit and StoreKit/App Store services. Apple’s independent processing as the platform provider is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy and applicable Apple terms.
If you voluntarily contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you provide and use them only to respond to and manage your request. Please do not send health information or other sensitive information by email.
6. Managing and Withdrawing Permissions
You control HealthKit permissions. You may deny access to some or all health information and may review, change, or withdraw access at any time through the Health app or your device’s privacy settings.
After access is withdrawn, the App can no longer read the affected data, and related features may become unavailable. Features that do not require that permission remain available. Because we do not hold server-side copies of your health information, there is no remote health record that you need to ask us to delete.
7. In-App Purchases
The App uses Apple StoreKit 2 to offer a one-time purchase that unlocks Pro features. Apple handles purchases, payment processing, refunds, transaction history, and billing information.
The App receives only transaction or entitlement status needed through StoreKit to verify and restore Pro access. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number, payment password, or other complete payment credentials. Apple’s processing of transaction information is governed by its own privacy policy and terms.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
HealthKit information is processed temporarily in memory while a relevant App feature is operating. The App does not retain a persistent copy.
Local App settings remain until you change or reset them or delete the App. Deleting the App normally removes its local data; device backups, purchase records, and HealthKit information managed by Apple are outside the App’s control. The App does not delete original information from Apple Health.
If you contact us by email, we may retain the communication for a reasonable period necessary to respond, maintain required records, or comply with legal obligations.
9. Security
The App follows data-minimization principles and uses the iOS App sandbox, HealthKit permission controls, and on-device processing to reduce unnecessary exposure. No electronic processing or storage method can guarantee absolute security. You should protect your device, Apple Account, and device passcode.
10. Children’s Privacy
The App is not specifically directed to children and does not actively collect children’s personal or health information through developer-operated servers. If a minor uses the App, a parent or legal guardian should manage the device, HealthKit permissions, and purchase settings as required by applicable law.
11. Medical Disclaimer
HealthLens is a health-information interpretation tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency monitoring. Status labels, trends, and possible explanations shown by the App may be incomplete or inaccurate and are not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional.
Do not delay seeking medical care because of information shown by the App. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy when the App’s features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The revised Policy will state a new effective date. If a change is material, we will provide notice through the App or a public page where reasonably practicable.
